Boca High MUN is Boca Raton Community High School's first Model United Nation Conference. Idealized and organized by the officers of the school's Model UN Club, BocaHMUN was originally idealized as a in-person event, but was quickly adapted to suit a fully online setting. Quarantine was been very harsh for some of us and MUN is an amazing way to keep students active and exercising their social and academic skills.
What is Model UN?
Academic simulation in which students learn, debate and negotiate with each other while representing countries, organizations, or relevant people.
There are the 3 types of committees:
1. General Assembly Committees
Committee in which you will debate diplomatic issues as countries or international organizations and try to come to a common solution following the United Nations' rules and structure.
2. Specialized Committees
Composed of a small number of delegates, usually in a round-table setting, it is a committee that emulates the fast-paced and unpredictable challenges that face our global leaders, allowing delegates to work closely with a group of passionate peers.
3. Crisis Committees
Often emulating small organizations and boards, it is a committee in which delegates take on the role of a character and try negotiate with other delegates from the character's perspective.
Students compete to win 3 levels of prestigious awards:
-Best Delegate
-Outstanding Delegate
-Honorable Mention
The school with the most winners (weighted by category) will earn the Best Delegation Award.

Boca High MUN will be mailing physical awards to delegates
Virtual conferences require as much(if not more) effort and talent than physical conferences. Having in mind that virtual awards would not represent the accomplishments of our most talented delegates adequately. With the many compromises, we have had to make in hosting our conference this year, failing to award our delegates is not one of them.
Delegates will be mailed gavels, Best Delegate, Outstanding Delegate, and Honorable Mention awards after the conference.
We will also be mailing our Best Delegation Award to the school that has the most winners (weighted by category). We know how much team effort is required to train a successful delegation, so, with that in mind, we decided to send a tangible validation of all the hard work put into this accomplishment. The Best Delegation Award personalized and hand-made with gold leaf. |
